People Strategy Partner

Our client within pharma is seeking a People Strategy Partner to join their team on an 18-month contract basis to cover a maternity leave. This is a full-time role reporting to the VP, People Strategy and Engagement based out of our Toronto, Canada office with the option to work remotely from home 2-3 days per week. Infrequent travel (up to once per quarter at most) to Cambridge, MA office is ideal.

Responsibilities :

  • Provide coaching to people managers up to Director level to impact employee engagement, development, and retention.
  • Up to the Director level, serve as first point of contact for general HR questions, concerns, feedback within functional are (leaves, accommodations, employee relations, conflict, engagement, benefits, people programs). Liaise and partner with other People Team subject matter experts to deliver appropriate business solutions.
  • Conceptualize, design and deliver on HR and/or functional specific projects and programs such as internal transfers, new team norming, engagement survey results and action planning, and more.
  • Collect and analyze data to derive insights on people trends to recommend, implement, and manage projects and programs. Collaborate with People Operations colleagues to implement data dashboards.
  • Collaborate with members across the People Team to deliver on individual and Team goals and objectives, and ad hoc projects.
  • In partnership with the People Strategy partners and leaders, develop and update career pathways using a consistent approach across functions.
  • Ensure activities are aligned with values of Integrity, Courage, Urgency and Community. Be an ambassador of the aforementioned values.
  • Champion the annual Performance Review Cycle collaborating with leaders to assess and calibrate effectively, inclusively and create action plans as needed
  • Provide counsel and guidance on complex employee relations situations, difficult conversations, transformation and other ad hoc changes that might come up.
  • Drive, support and advise on activities related to effective change management.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years’ experience business partnering, managing end-to-end stakeholder relationships and demonstrated experience working with people managers on strategic HR initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree – no preference of field.
  • Ability to translate strategy into operational execution. Adept at breaking down strategic priorities or business initiatives, and aligning communication, values/culture, processes, and implementation of required results.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, specifically leading projects as the PM.
  • Confident and comfortable working in a change-ready environment with an entrepreneurial go-getter attitude.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong oratory presence and interest in training/onboarding new joiners, facilitation, etc.
  • An effective and enthusiastic communicator, navigating across the different tiers in the organization. Ability to build relationships across the organization.
  • A collaborative team player with a roll-up your sleeves mentality.
  • Thinks visually and able to utilize Microsoft Office Suite to bring the vision to life.
  • A passion for the People Strategy function.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion is critical.
