Sales Representative

Our client is an importer and distributor seeking a highly motivated Sales and Merchandising Specialist with experience in the CPG industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing accounts in both urban and rural communities, with a strong focus on growth and relationship building. As a Sales Representative, you’ll be responsible for managing a designated territory of retail accounts, driving sales growth, and ensuring top-tier merchandising standards.

Responsibilities :

  • Manage territory coverage, selling to existing accounts within the grocery chain and specialty/health independent channels according to a call schedule.
  • Present products from the portfolio and build distribution during new product launches.
  • Proactively generate new business through cold calling, prospecting and follow-ups.
  • Establish, develop and maintain strong, positive business relationships with store managers and staff.
  • Take orders for replenishment and identify opportunities for incremental sales.
  • Maintain and expand the existing customer base within the assigned territory.
  • Ensure planogram compliance and proper product placement in stores.
  • Execute promotional programs and track compliance.
  • Identify and resolve out of stock situations in coordination with the store and KAMS.
  • Capture store level photos and data to report on execution and opportunities.
  • Provide territory feedback and insights to management on competitive pricing, promotions and industry trends.
  • Complete daily visit logs and maintain accurate CRM records.
  • Represent the company professionally and act as a brand ambassador at all times.
  • Attend up to two trade shows per year.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must reside in the Ontario catchment region, to be discussed.
  • Extraordinary customer service, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience (CPG or food industry preferred), field sales, merchandising, or retail account management.
  • Strong relationship building skills in time constrained environments.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking accountability.
  • Post-secondary education.
  • Results-driven.
  • Proficient with mobile apps and CRM tools (training provided).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (daily travel required).

  • Ability to meet at the Markham office occasionally.

Working Conditions

  • Field based role with 90% of time in stores/on the road, 10% on administrative tasks.
  • Must maintain a dedicated home office space with reliable internet access for administrative tasks and virtual meetings.
  • Territory may include overnight travel depending on the geography.
  • Requires occasional lifting/moving of product displays or promotional material (up to 30lbs).
