Sr. Director of Finance

Our client is seeking a Sr. Director of Finance   who will lead the financial strategy, planning, and management of the company’s growing project portfolio across North America. The Sr. Director will oversee corporate financial operations, project finance structuring, financial modeling, and capital planning to support the development, construction, and operation of projects.

 

The successful candidate will work closely with the executive leadership team to support investment decisions, manage financial risk, and ensure the company maintains strong financial discipline as it scales its project portfolio. The Sr. Director will collaborate cross-functionally with development, construction, operations, and external financial partners to support project execution and maximize project returns.

 

This role requires a strategic financial leader with strong analytical capabilities, experience in energy or infrastructure project finance, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-growing entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead the company’s corporate financial strategy, planning, and financial management functions.
  • Own and maintain the company’s corporate financial model and valuation framework, including scenario analysis, capital allocation, and enterprise value assessment.
  • Build and maintain financial models supporting project development, capital investment decisions, and portfolio performance.
  • Oversee project finance structuring, including debt financing, tax equity, ITC/PTC monetization, and other capital stack components.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support project development, capital investments, and portfolio performance
  • Oversee project finance structuring, including debt financing, tax equity, and other capital stack components.
  • Work with executive leadership to evaluate project investments and ensure alignment with company return thresholds and financial objectives.
  • Manage financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term capital planning for the organization.
  • Develop financial reporting packages and performance analysis for executive leadership, investors, and board stakeholders.
  • Oversee treasury management, including liquidity planning, banking relationships, and capital allocation.
  • Coordinate with project development, engineering, construction, and operations teams to evaluate project economics and financial performance.
  • Support negotiations with lenders, investors, and financial partners related to project financing.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including capital costs, operating costs, and return metrics.
  • Develop and improve internal financial processes, systems, and reporting standards as the company scales.
  • Manage and mentor a growing finance team, including financial analysts and accounting professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards, tax requirements, and applicable regulatory obligations.
  • Provide financial insights and strategic recommendations to support business growth and investment decisions.
  • Perform other duties as required

 

Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years relevant working experience in the biogas, landfills, renewable natural gas,

wastewater and/or natural gas industries.

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or a related field.
  • 12–15 years of progressive experience in corporate finance, project finance, investment analysis, or financial leadership roles.
  • Experience in energy infrastructure, renewable energy, project development, or other capital-intensive industries strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in structuring and executing project finance transactions.
  • Strong financial modeling, investment analysis, and capital planning skills.
  • Experience managing financial forecasting, budgeting, and reporting processes.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, debt structures, and capital raising strategies.
  • Experience working with executive leadership, investors, and financial institutions.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Ability to travel as needed to company offices, projects, and financial partners.
