Senior Associate, Assurance & Accounting

Our client is a prominent Professional Services firm based out of Richmond Hill, Ontario that specializes in Assurance, Accounting, Estate Planning, Tax Consulting, Forensics, Advisory, Business Valuations and Litigation Support Services.

 

They have experienced exponential growth over the past several years through organic expansion of service lines and strategic acquisitions. Their clients include high net worth families, real estate developers, fintech companies, medical, dental, and legal professionals, nationally recognized organizations, professional athletes, and various not-for-profit entities.

Responsibilities :

  • Execute audits and reviews of our clients from planning to completion.
  • Prepare corporate tax returns, personal tax returns, T5013 Partnership Returns, T3 Trust Returns, T4/T4A/NR4/T5 Information Slips, T5001 Tax Shelter Slips, GST and EHT Returns, ETD calculations, WSIB calculations.
  • Preparation of file, financial statements and draft tax returns, general rep. letter, ability to distinguish between compilation & assurance files, and various tax schedules within CaseWare.
  • Devise appropriate engagement program including risk analysis and materiality.
  • Provide on the job coaching and mentorship to junior staff members.
  • Keep abreast of accounting trends and legislation.
  • Manage concurrent assignments.
  • Work closely with the administrative assistant team for client onboarding, proper processing and filing of documentation and overseeing the workflow.
  • Enter daily timesheet and expenses in CCH, attend scheduled meetings, and maintain consistent communication with colleague for client engagement status.

Qualifications:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and 2-3 years of experience within the Public Accounting industry.
  • Previous experience using the various accounting frameworks applicable in Canada (IFRS, ASPE, NPO and/or Public Sector) and tax compliance.
  • Excellent client service skills with an aptitude to understand the client’s business to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Ability to manage conflicting demands and priorities and take initiative to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to work with others effectively in teams
  • Proven analytical skills and systematic problem solving and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience with CaseWare is considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
