Director, Mortgage Administration

Our client, a boutique mortgage lender requires a Director, Mortgage Administration to join their team. They are seeking an experienced mortgage administrator to join a stable and growing firm. The firm specializes in lending against complicated construction projects and acquiring properties opportunistically across real estate asset classes and geographies. The work is fast paced and exciting. As we are a small and flat organization, there is an opportunity to gain a broad range of skills and experiences. In this role, you will lead the Mortgage Administration team and proactively monitor and administer a growing construction focused mortgage portfolio. Candidates must enjoy dealing with people and have the ability to juggle and organize many tasks at the same time. The role reports directly to the Vice President, Operations.

Responsibilities :

  • Manage the Mortgage Administration team;
  • Develop and maintain portfolio level analytics and tracking methods;
  • Oversee the collection of interest payments, property taxes, and insurance;
  • Prepare advance statements, discharge statements, information statements;
  • Liaise with the lawyer to coordinate mortgage funding, discharges, repayments;
  • Support FSRA compliance, including ensuring monitoring of material risks;
  • Provide backup support on other mortgage administration activities;
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including some banking and trust account administration.

Qualifications:

  • 9+ years of mortgage administration experience or relevant work experience in real estate, or finance;
  • The Mortgage Office (TMO) experience considered an asset;
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Commerce, or Real Estate, or similar an asset;
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks by working proactively to solve issues;
  • Keen sense of organization, planning, and prioritizing: Uses structured work methods, establishes priorities, sets deadlines, and manages time effectively;
  • Ability to interact with and manage clients;
  • Exceptional attention to detail;
  • High degree of professionalism and a positive and professional attitude;
  • Excellent Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills;
  • A desire and willingness to learn.
