Strategic Projects Lead

Our client, a Toronto-based multi-strategy hedge fund is seeking a Strategic Projects Lead to join the Office of the CIO. The CIO operates simultaneously at the intersection of high finance, major philanthropy, and the culinary and cultural world, and is one of Canada’s most prominent figures across the private and social sectors.

The ideal candidate thinks strategically and executes with precision. You will conduct rapid, high-quality research to prepare the CIO for meetings, speaking engagements, and high-stakes decisions; lead timebound strategic initiatives from inception to completion. This role demands someone who is as comfortable synthesizing an investment briefing as they are structuring a philanthropic strategy.

Responsibilities :

Strategic Intelligence & Research Serve as the CIO’s eyes and ears on the ideas, people, and trends that matter most:

  • Conduct rapid, high-quality research and analysis to prepare the CIO for meetings, speaking engagements, and high-stakes decisions.
  • Identify signal in noise; proactively surface insights before they are asked for.
  • Support preparation of materials, and advisory engagements, including briefing decks, talking points, and pre-read summaries.

Strategic Projects Own discrete, high-priority projects on behalf of the CIO:

  • Lead time-bound strategic initiatives, from operational improvements to new business developments and/or philanthropic strategies and opportunities, with end-to-end ownership and clear deliverables.
  • Identify, build, and deploy AI-powered tools and workflows that improve efficiency and decision making across the CIO’s office.

Philanthropic Strategy Support

  • Work directly with the Executive Director of the Kassam Equity Fund to support strategic planning, impact tracking, and initiative development, including donor relations, event logistics and grant correspondence.
  • Prepare briefing materials and talking points for philanthropic engagements, donor meetings, and board interactions.
  • Identify emerging opportunities aligned with the fund’s mandate and surface them proactively to leadership.

Events & Hospitality

  • Conceptualize, plan, and execute events from inception to completion — from intimate dinners to large-scale gatherings.
  • Source, contract, and manage vendors and service providers including venues, catering, entertainment, décor, and staffing.
  • Curate and manage guest lists with discretion, overseeing invitations, RSVPs, seating, and dietary coordination.
  • Coordinate all hospitality arrangements for family gatherings, philanthropic functions, and social events.
  • Conduct post-event follow-up with vendors, guests, and internal stakeholders.

The ideal candidate possesses the analytical and communication skills necessary for a high-performance environment, with the intellectual curiosity, organizational instincts, and judgment to operate across every dimension of this role.

  • Demonstrated experience in event planning and hospitality coordination.
  • Extroverted and energized by people. You thrive in rooms with senior leaders, move comfortably across professional and social contexts, and have a track record of building relationships that go beyond the transactional.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. You write with clarity, economy, and Polished and professional at all times.
  • Strong analytical instincts. Comfortable synthesizing complex information quickly and presenting it
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving, high expectation environment through a proactive, solutions-first mindset.
  • Genuine curiosity about business, finance, and ideas. You read widely and think independently.
  • High comfort with ambiguity and the initiative to define your own path through it.
  • An active interest in AI tools and automation and productivity improvements. You’re already experimenting, not waiting to be taught.
  • Social media savvy — familiar with major platforms and able to assist with monitoring, coordination, or light content management.
  • Impeccable judgment, discretion, and integrity. You will have access to sensitive personal, financial, and professional information across every dimension of a high-profile principal’s life.
  • A high standard for your own work and a natural drive to raise the bar around you.
  • Proficiency in the full Microsoft Office Suite — Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
