Job Description:

Our client within residential property management requires a Senior Accountant to join their team. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the candidate will be responsible for the financial accounting and operations of our real estate portfolio.  The candidate will have a broad exposure across multiple area including financial analysis, consolidation & reporting and operation improvements. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‐paced environment and has strong finance / accounting experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and leadership in the completion of annual budget
  • Detailed review, including variance analysis, of quarterly property level reporting packages provided by property managers, ensuring reporting packages are fully supportable and accurate

  • Design and consolidate company wide annual budget package for Executives review
  • Develop, implement and maintain a variety of financial models, schedules and working paper
  • Prepare year end audit working paper and lead sheets for submission to auditors
  • Maintain General Ledgers for small private companies including, preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and income statement analysis
  • Undertaking special projects and assignments as required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years solid professional work experience in related field
  • Advanced financial and analytical skills
  • Detailed oriented, self‐motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proactive and self‐directed with ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent computer skills, including advanced Excel, and familiarity with Word and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of YARDI and/or Quickbooks is an asset
  • University degree in business, finance or accounting
  • Any related professional designations such as CFA, CPA, MBA would be considered an asset.
