Property Accountant

Job Description:

Our client within property management and development requires a Property Accountant to join their team. Located in Markham, this role requires retail or commercial property management accounting experience.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain the property management books for the assigned portfolio
• Balance sheet, bank and GST/HST reconciliations for the portfolio
• Update and record monthly CAM and Tax Recovery accruals
• Assist the operations groups in preparation of the annual budget
• Monitor and control cash flow
• Monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement preparation ensuring deadlines are met
• Prepare month and year end working papers
• Assist with yearend audits
• Other projects as assigned

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in accounting or business
• 3 – 5 years accounting experience in property management
• Experience with JD Edwards system an asset
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices
• Ability to prioritize workload and multitask under tight deadlines
• Well-organized, analytical, problem solver with high attention to detail
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Minimum level – CPA Professional Education Program – Capstone Integrative Module (Cap 1)
