Job Description:

Our client  within software requires a Payroll Manager to join their team.

The Payroll and Benefits Manager is responsible for the execution of payroll processing, administrative activities supporting benefits programs, maintenance of company records supporting financial and regulatory requirements, and generation/monitoring of key reports supporting benefits.

There are four key functional responsibilities associated with this position: Payroll Processing, Benefits Administration, Maintenance of Key Master Files supporting benefits and payroll processing, and Compliance Reporting and Reconciliations.

 

The nature of the responsibilities will make available to this position confidential information relating to the company, senior executives, and staff members. Due to the nature of the access to information, this position requires a high degree of confidentiality and security of records maintained.

This role will initially report to the Director of Finance. The successful candidate will have one direct report, a Payroll Specialist.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all required entries / submissions and processes necessary to execute on payroll runs company wide.
  • Liaise with operating companies, leadership, and with external agencies to ensure accuracy and adherence to payroll policies and procedures.
  • Interfaces with payroll service provider to ensure accuracy of payroll.
  • Lead integration efforts of acquired employees on relevant payroll and benefit platforms.
  • Play a key role in negotiating and renewing benefit programs annually.
  • Process improvement and automation to increase efficiency.
  • Overseeing vendors for processing of payroll in countries outside of North America.
  • Assist the finance team in preparation of payroll and benefit journal entries.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years hands-on and management experience (with direct reports) in Canadian Payroll and Benefits.
  • Experience in United States (multi-state) Payroll and benefits is an asset.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) or similar designation
  • Experience with multiple payroll platforms (Ceridian, Workday, UKG, ADP, etc.) Ceridian Day Force is an asset.
  • Experience integrating acquisitions from different payroll providers and combining benefit plans is a plus.
  • Perseverance and high standards to ensure payroll accuracy.
  • High service orientation while maintaining confidentiality in all aspects.
  • Strong organizational skills, including effective time management and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel)
  • Highly motivated and energetic with interest in entrepreneurship and software are a bonus.
