Job Description:

Our client, a private day school requires a Director of Communications to join their team. The Director of Communications is the member of the Senior Staff primarily responsible for the articulate communication of the school’s mission and vision to all constituents. The Senior Staff team is the set of administrators collectively responsible for the overall success of the school in all areas, whether under their direct purview or that of a colleague. In order to be successful, the members of the team must be calm and confident, and collaborative problem-solvers at the highest level.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and executing the school’s strategic marketing plan
  • Managing the School’s social media presence (including Facebook and Instagram feeds)
  • Monitoring the School’s image in the press and online and taking responsibility for media outreach, press releases and
  • marketing
  • Producing major publications and communications projects
  • Guiding/editing day to day communications to ensure mission/branding alignment
  • Familiarity with communications vehicles which can strengthen the reach of the school’s marketing materials
  • Managing of website
  • Serving as primary contact and manager for publishing and marketing related vendor relationships
  • Guiding the School’s consistent message and branding in communications to all constituents including prospective
  • families, current families, alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends
  • Regular and visible involvement in all aspects of school life
  • Managing in-house and external support personnel
  • Identifying new avenues for communication and marketing in support of admission and advancement efforts

Qualifications:

  • Significant marketing and communications experience with a minimum five years work experience in a related field
  • Experience in graphic design and photo/video editing software
  • A high level of initiative and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Experience in social media, graphic design and basic photography
  • Technological fluency – utility with Google apps, Constant Contact, knowledge of modifying CMS platforms
  • Ability to interact positively with a range of constituents
