Job Description:
Our client within private wealth requires an Insurance Analyst to join their team. Reporting to the VP of Insurance and Financial Modeling Services, the Insurance Analyst role encompasses multiple aspects in the daily operations including case preparation, in-force insurance management and contribution to building new insurance and financial modeling tools and reports. The Insurance Analyst will collaborate closely with an advisory team in the modeling of solutions, and the design and build of highly customized presentations to current and prospective High Net Worth clients and their family office teams.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate and coordinate closely with X’s advisor community to create and maintain bespoke life insurance estate planning solutions based on specific client needs.
- Ongoing enhancement of existing methods to outline life insurance solutions to clients.
- Build customized financial models to incorporate life insurance strategies.
- Analyze the status of in-force insurance portfolios and prepare the advisor team for client meetings.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of insurance and financial modeling tools and reporting
- The environment is dynamic and fast-paced and rewards anticipation, self-leadership, and mature, sound judgement. The incumbent is expected to work fairly autonomously to drive tasks and duties to completion.
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years’ experience of financial analysis in the financial services industry, e.g. at a bank, life insurance company, brokerage, accounting, tax, finance, estate planning or consulting firm
- Working knowledge of the Canadian life insurance industry and products offering
- Working knowledge of personal and corporate financial planning, including taxation
- Intermediate to advanced usage of Excel and PowerPoint
- Analytical nature – accuracy and attention to detail being critical in our line of business
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while developing and proposing solutions
- A self-starter who can work well independently, and also able to adapt to team environment swiftly
- Post-secondary education in business, mathematics, accounting, or related discipline
- Clear and concise writing ability to simplify technical concepts
Preferred Qualifications
- In-depth understanding of life insurance products and procedures
- Experience with insurance carrier illustration software
- Enrolled or willing to enrol in CLU or CFP designation
- Other designations, such as CPA, CFA or TEP a plus for a rich understanding of personal & corporate tax
- Also desirable is Microsoft VBA or other coding knowledge, and big data analysis experience
