Job Description:

Our client located in North York that has a growing portfolio of commercial properties requires a Facilities Manager to join their team.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend and inspect properties on a regular basis (Toronto, St. Catharines, Brampton, Mississauga, Bradford, Aurora)
  • Oversee and assist in the maintenance of common areas, and ensure properties are kept in safe and orderly condition at all times
  • Maintain and adhere to a schedule for the regular inspection and maintenance of building systems (mechanical, electrical, life-safety, roofing, paving, etc.)
  • Establish relationships with and manage the work of third-party contractors
  • Prepare tenders/specifications and obtain price quotations for required maintenance contracts, equipment, supplies, and other work
  • Communicate tactfully with tenants and respond to their requirements in a timely and professional manner
  • Make recommendations for physical repairs and upgrades
  • Maintain electronic records of property information (plans, reports, pictures, etc.)
  • Approve and code invoices for property maintenance work
  • Assist with the management of renovation and construction work
  • Assist with the leasing of available spaces, including showing vacant units
  • Be available outside of regular business hours for emergencies when necessary
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of building systems and ability to diagnose problems
  • Good judgment and decision-making capabilities
  • Self-starter with the ability to work proactively and independently
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, and attention to details
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate and build relationships with tenants and contractors
  • Ability to read and write English fluently
  • Strong comfort with the use of computers for electronic communication, document preparation, document management, and building controls
  • Must have a valid G-license in good standing
  • Willingness to get hands dirty when required
  • “Handiness”, construction trade skills, prior experience, and/or education/accreditation in facilities management would be an asset
