Job Description:

Our client, a downtown boutique media agency requires an ECommerce Planning Director to join their team. The Ecommerce Planning Director is an integral position that represents in part the continuing evolution of media, and the agency. As the business grows this role represents the creation of a dedicated servicing pillar at the agency Reporting into the Managing Director, Digital, this pillar will guide clients to achieve their ambitions in Ecommerce.

Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Thinking, Plan Development and Execution
  • A deep understanding of assigned client business drivers, target audience, and business KPIs
  • A rich knowledge of the Ecommerce marketing place and what trends and technologies are influencing consumers and supporting brands
  • Champion and lead the digital planning process, ensuring the utilization of data and analytics (client data, syndicated data, consumer behaviour, etc.)
  • Develop strategies, presenting plans and executing ecommerce campaigns in market for a variety of clients, including both branding and performance campaigns working in conjunction with our search specialist, programmatic trading desk, and Ad Ops specialists when applicable
  • Work collaboratively with the creative agencies, media suppliers and our clients to deliver superior thinking, service, and business results
  • Able to problem solve and provide intervention when necessary
  • Keep on top of industry landscape, digital formats, and best practic Includes generating POVs for our clients, creative agencies, and internal teams
  • Direct oversight of any direct reports’ client facing work
  • Development and accountability to follow detailed workback schedules to coordinate all aspects of plan deliverables, internal and external

 

 

 

 

  1. Manage the day to day media business of our clients
  • Build strong business relationships with clients by managing the day to day in a professional, intelligent and articulate manner.
  • Be seen as the subject manner expert with the ability to articulate digital strategies, technical requirements and POV’s in language that is easy to for all levels of client to understand.
  • Communicate with clients regularly to update them on the progress of our assignments and build understanding of our clients’ business
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting/analytics to our clients with deep insights, benchmarks and recommendations on next steps and optimizations
  • Provide creative agencies with creative best practices by platform for the successful outcomes of campaigns, also ensure they aware of deadlines and material specs in a timely manner as well as implications of not meeting them
  • Have a deep understanding of DCO platforms, technologies and capabilities
  • Work collaboratively and professionally with the creative agencies, media suppliers and our clients to deliver superior thinking, service and business results

 

 

  1. Maintain and cultivate a well-rounded technical skillset
  • Understand the agency and clients marketing technology stack and how to best leverage for audience and consumer insight
  • Keep up to date as required with certifications and new developments with our core advertising platforms. Seek out additional skills and understanding of new emerging marketing/media technology
  • Accountable for oversight of digital team’s work within ad tech platforms
  • In depth knowledge of how all technologies work together including tracking and
  • implementation to deliver client’s objectives

 

 

 

  1. Staff Management and Team Assignments
  • Develop and hire staff to serve client needs as needed
  • Ensure that the team is communicating well and working together in a mutually respectful and professional way with each other and across service groups
  • Training through practical exposure to tasks with close oversight, positive feedback and repetition. Providing explanations of the ‘why’ behind each task
  • Establishing deadlines with the team and following up to meet deadlines
  • Teaching through open dialogue and demonstrating expectations through previous work

 

 

 

 

  1. Manage the financial health of the agency through:
  • Stewardship of the client billing process including all aspects of budget tracking, MPA & PO management, and continuous accurate BCR management
  • Oversight of all aspects of the digital budget and execution including Specialized areas
  • (Programmatic, Search, et)
  • Accurate execution of planned media budgets
  • Work with the team to ensure timely approval & reconciliation of media invoices
  • Seek opportunities to grow the agency revenue through non-traditional means e. supplier volume deals

 

 

 

  1. Build the breadth of the agency’s knowledge of our industry
  • Attend industry update presentations
  • Participate in industry panels
  • Meet with sales representatives to ensure we are well informed on all developments in the industry
  • Read and search out industry press/news to keep informed of ongoing changes
  • Seek out information on emerging consumer trends or digital media
  • Share knowledge with agency teams through presentations, POVs, etc.

 

 

  1. Build our reputation outside of the agency
  • Be responsive to email/phone requests for meetings
  • Give fair and timely feedback to proposals
  • Be open to new ideas and suppliers
  • Present yourself in a professional manner at all business/ industry meetings, events, forums, etc. even if they are outside business hours
  • Look for opportunities to speak at events, join boards, be involved in industry events

 

 

  1. Seek out new business opportunities and secure new business
  • By delivering a superior media agency product and service to current clients and agencies
  • By mining current relationships for business leads
  • By attending industry functions and networking

 

Qualifications:

  • 9+ years Digital Media/Marketing experience
  • 3-5 years of eCommerce experience
  • 2+ years SEO experience
  • 2 years of people management experience
  • 3-5 years experience in Google Ads, Shopify, Facebook Ads Manager
  • A demonstrated ability of strong client management
  • A deep familiarity with web analytics tools
  • Computer Skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Analytics/BI tools
  • Can manage an annual budget
  • Proven ability to use data to drive decision making
  • Strong quantitative and data skills, especially excel
  • Digital content creation and management
  • Experience road mapping success plans for brands as they start or continue their own
