Job Description:

Our client requires a Development Manager to join their team. For this role, they are seeking an experienced Development Manager who will oversee and lead the process of realizing the pipeline’s exciting potential, while helping craft a strategy to grow the pipeline over the long term.


  • Recommend and retain consultant team for each project
  • Collaborate with architects and planners on initial project design
  • Provide input on structural design of the building as the process progress
  • Present Principals with recommendations and strategy to achieve the optimal design of each site and project. Including recommendations on building height and density
  • Work with planners to ensure that they have facilitated all necessary meetings with the municipality I.E. initial PAC meeting
  • Represent company at all meetings with municipalities
  • Manage project consultant teams to ensure that project deliverables are completed accurately and on time
  • Review and approve all consultant invoices
  • Speak with consultants to address any issues that arise from their invoice review
  • Report monthly to Principals on consultant performance and project progress
  • Review and address all ZBA comments received from various stakeholders, and present Principals with recommendations and strategy of most efficient way of completing the rezoning process for each file
  • Work with planners to develop and refine community engagement strategy for each file
  • Represent company at community engagement meetings and/or additional stakeholder meetings
  • Work with legal counsel on any mediation or processes with the OMB
  • Review and address all city comments on Site Plan Approval applications
  • Work with architects to review implications of SPA on building’s structural design
  • Manage project consultants to ensure that that project deliverables for SPA resubmission are completed on time and accurately
  • Work with Principals to develop and refine long term strategy to further grow high-rise division
  • Work with Principals to uncover and investigate new high-rise opportunities
  • Lead due diligence review of new high-rise opportunities (work with consultants to ascertain achievable height and density and path to approvals for prospective new acquisitions)
  • Present findings on new acquisitions to Principals/acquisition team


  • Undergraduate studies in Civil/Building Engineering, Urban Planning, Architecture, Construction Management, or similar
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role in the real-estate/development industry
  • Expertise in Feasibility / Due Diligence, Site Planning, Permitting, Site Analysis, civil design and construction, Entitlements, Land Use, Land Planning, Utility Providers and Construction
  • Proven experience in working with local municipalities and organizations to pursue site plan / zoning approvals for a given concept
  • Strong knowledge of building design and can lead conversations with design professionals on design-related topics
  • Strong legal acumen, business acumen and strong negotiation skills
  • Experience in real estate finance and reviewing financial models and development pro-forma sensitivities
  • Proven experience leading and managing numerous facets of multiple projects simultaneously
  • Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail, goal-oriented and driven by integrity
