Job Description:

Our client within private equity requires an Accounting Associate to join their team. The successful candidate will bring strong analytical skills, be highly insightful, respectful of deadlines, and detail‐oriented. The successful candidate will work well in a team environment, will be keen to learn, and thrives in an entrepreneurial, fast paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all necessary documentation and approvals are received in accordance with internal accounting policies prior to processing payments
  • Process transactions, including A/P and A/R and recurring entries, such as amortization and intercompany transactions, on a timely and accurate basis in QuickBooks
  • Prepare electronic funds transfer payments and/or wire transfers to ensure invoices are paid when due
  • Update a daily cash reconciliation of payments made or received in order to support related bank reconciliations
  • Reconciliation/review of expense reports, and credit card statements
  • Assist in preparation of monthly financial reporting packages for senior management review
  • Assist with annual audit process
  • Set up new vendors and gather vendor banking information
  • Maintain accurate and complete historical records by scanning/filing documents in a timely manner
  • Provide support to the team during peak seasons (typically quarter-ends and year-end)
  • Other ad hoc responsibilities as required

Qualifications:

  • University or College Degree, preferably in Commerce, Business, or Accounting
  • 3‐5 years of related experience required
  • Strong full cycle General Accounting Experience is an asset
  • Proficiency with Accounting Software QuickBooks
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Superior organization and time management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a high‐growth, fast‐paced environment
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, flexibility and proactiveness
  • “Roll‐up the sleeves” approach in order to accomplish all necessary tasks
  • Some tax experience is a bonus (i.e., filing monthly HST returns, corporate tax administration)
