Senior Real Estate Law Clerk

Our client, a North York law firm requires an Senior Law Clerk with commercial real estate experience to join their team. This Senior Law Clerk plays a key support role at the Firm, acting as the central point of contact for clients and working internally to support the commercial real estate team. The Senior Law Clerk is also responsible for assisting in the preparation and organization of legal documents and providing an overall exceptional customer service experience to all clients, all while upholding the standards of confidentiality.

Responsibilities :

  • Provide support for acquisitions and sales of commercial properties, condominium developments, financing transactions and land development
  • Perform sub-searches of title and off-title searches and addressing any issues noticed accordingly
  • Drafting e-reg. documents in the Teraview system, draft instruments and obtain parcels per the lawyers’ instructions
  • Assist with commercial leasing transactions
  • Assist with registration of plans of subdivision and other land development matters
  • Thorough understanding of the billing process – entering and revising time dockets, preparing pre-bills, proof-reading accounts, preparing account letters and sending out invoices
  • Prepare cheque requisitions and trust deposits/withdrawals and preparing expense reports and account balances
  • Corresponding directly with clients, other lawyer’s offices and municipalities
  • Organize and maintaining physical and electronic files

Qualifications:

  • A diploma in a related Legal Administration and/or Law Clerk program or equivalent years of experience
  • 6 + years of experience in a similar position in a Commercial or Residential Real Estate Law practice
  • Proficiency with PC Law, Microsoft Office Suite, Teraview, Conveyancer, and Lawyer Done Deal
  • Ability to complete commercial and residential purchase and sale transactions from start to finish with minimal supervision
  • Experience with commercial loan transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions
  • Demonstrates a professional demeanor, high ethical standards, and commitment to service excellence
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
