Professional services company requires a Payroll Manager to join their team. The Payroll Manager is also responsible for working with the company HRIS team for Workday HRIS payroll and benefits tables and codes administration and to create Workday HRIS environment change requests and validate test results when received before they are put into production. Oversees the benefits plans, vendors, invoices, filings and reconciliations.

Responsibilities:

• Manage Payroll and Benefits Operations and team for Canada; responsible for coordinating workflow through the department and delegating when required; coach and direct the Payroll team
• Serve as Canadian Payroll and Benefits subject matter expert within the HR work group and in Workday HRIS
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, payroll funding, tax filing on a pay period and on-going basis
• Coordinate changes of custom reports, journals, new payroll codes as required within
• Workday HRIS
• Set guidelines for payroll team, set payroll schedule, timelines/deadlines for HR and managers to provide information to payroll for processing
• Conduct various payroll audits to ensure accuracy and quality control; work with auditors as required
• Ensure on-going and Year-End reporting is balanced and filed in accordance with legislation and deadlines are met
• Perform semi-annual reviews
• Double check and approve all payroll third party payments, payroll journals and payroll funding documents.
• Approve withholding calculations for stock option plans and the input process for accurate T4 reporting. Ensure all processes documentation and compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and local, provincial and national regulatory agencies
• Ensure the team is consistently delivering products & services up to the expected standards
• Demonstrate productive analytical thinking when it comes to solutions
• Demonstrate assertiveness, where appropriate, through respectful and clear communication tactics
• Collaborate with team members and across functions to achieve deliverables
• Deliver customer service consistent with Brookfield’s global service delivery standards
• Exhibit effective presentation skills through clear expression of information and appeal to the audience both aesthetically and persuasively
• Prioritize process improvement consistently
• Maintain continuous level of engagement between team, department and tower members, cross-functionally and with clients, as required
• Understand and apply big picture thinking to create strategic road maps and objectives
• Provide and manage processes to support a high degree of customer service
• Hire and develop talent for his/her team to support organic and strategic growth

Qualifications & Requirements
• Minimum 6 years of payroll management experience 
• Minimum 1 year of people management experience 
• CPM certification
• Excellent understanding of payroll and accounting
• Working knowledge of Workday
• Strong relationship management skills, with a focus on internal client management
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Employs exceptional interpersonal skills
